The President of the BPA receives the Merit Cross on the ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mainz.
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has conferred the Cross of Merit and the ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany upon Bernd Meurer. The Minister of Social Affairs of Rhineland-Palatinate, Alexander Schweitzer, presented the award to the President of the Federal Association of Private Social Service Providers (bpa) during a ceremony in Mainz.
« For almost 30 years, Bernd Meurer has been actively and exceptionally involved in the field of nursing care in Germany and Rhineland-Palatinate; he literally lives a ‘life for nursing care.’ For three decades, he has been at the helm of the Federal Association of Private Social Service Providers (bpa) and during this period has made a significant contribution to nursing care in Germany. As the President of the Nursing Association of Rhineland-Palatinate from 2010 to 2015, he provided substantial support to its establishment. This allowed for the alignment of the interests of care facilities and the creation of a single point of contact for politics, administration, and self-administration in Rhineland-Palatinate. With his personal commitment, he has made a significant contribution to enabling those in need of care to realize their right to a self-determined life in the midst of our society. For this, I want to express my deep gratitude and appreciation to Bernd Meurer, » stated Minister Schweitzer, praising Bernd Meurer’s achievements.
The Vice President of BPA, Margit Benkenstein, emphasized the growing importance of private care providers in Germany, thanks in part to Bernd Meurer’s dedication. « The fact that private companies now provide care to approximately half of all those in need, and that individuals can choose from various care facilities and providers if necessary, is closely tied to his work. With their commitment and dedication, the private sector has significantly advanced the expansion of care infrastructures in Germany.
